The Nambu iron kettle, in particular, is held in high regard and was certified as a Traditional Craftwork of Japan in 1975 due in part to the worldwide recognition it enjoys. A tetsubin, is a masterpiece that fits in any house and if used correctly it is for life.

Instructions

Before use, fill in the water about 80% of full capacity, and then heat the water on a medium flame until it gets boiled. Do not dry heat during this step. After the water gets boiled, drain the water. Repeat these steps 2~3 times until you find the drained water being transparent.

After every use, make sure to keep the kettle empty and dry. Do not leave water in and dry with residual heat after use. If moisture remains, remove the lid and dry heat for about 30 seconds.

The iron kettle is a product exclusively for boiling water. Do not touch the inside of the iron kettle because it absorbs minerals and attaches a natural protective film (scale).

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth when the hot kettle is hot and a dry wipe when the kettle is cold.

Due to the nature of casting, each kettle has some individual differences.

Notes: The more you use, the kettle internal starts to have some red rusts but it eventually turns white. This rust is harmless and this is a nature of iron, and it helps the water purer. Do not scrub the rusty part inside the kettle or that will rather shorten the product's lifespan. If the boiled water becomes cloudy or smells bad, fill in the water (80% of the max capacity), add a teabag of green tea, and boil it for 30 minutes.
